About

Welcome to Anastasia Suen’s Book of the Week blog!

The author of 115 books, I studied library science in junior high and worked in the public library in high school. I started teaching elementary school in 1977. I taught kindergarten ESL, first, fifth and sixth grades. After my children’s books were published I went back to the classroom as a visiting author. I co-taught children’s literature in the library school at the University of North Texas. Today I teach writing at Southern Methodist University, for Staff Development for Educators and online. I have written with students of all ages in workshops all over the globe.

Q. Why are you starting a new blog?

A. I have piles of files filled with activities for my books! I’ve been saving them for ages.

Q. How will having a blog help you with the piles?

A. The piles are still there because they didn’t have a deadline, so I’ve decided to give them one with this blog.

Q. What will your deadline be?

A. Once a week I’ll post activities for ONE of my books here. That will move the piles off my desk and into cyberspace, where the activities can be used. (They’re just gathering dust on my desk!)

Q. What will you post for each book?

A. I’ll post the book cover, a brief description, and links to activities that parents, teachers, and librarians can use with children after they read the book together.

Q. What kinds of activities will you post?

A. I’ve found coloring pages, crafts, lesson plans, photos, word searches, videos and games that can be used after children read my books. (I’ll add more  each week as I find it!)
